The American Psychological Association is referred to by their abbreviations, APA. Their mission is to promote the communication, advancement, and application of the knowledge and field of psychological science in an effort to improve people’s lives and serve as a benefit to society at large. Their efforts are focused on the aspects of psychology that provide solutions to problems of human justice and promote just and equitable treatment of everyone in society.
APA Members
APA has over 500 staff members who are responsible for tasks such as tracking trends, creating content that is designed to educate the public about mental health, publishing peer-reviewed journals and books and serving as advocates for federal policies and legislation.
The primary members of APA are doctoral-level psychologists who work in various settings, such as private psychology practice, hospitals, K-12 schools, court systems, businesses, industries, and prisons.
The affiliate and associate members consist of psychologists who reside outside of the United States and Canada, psychology students and teachers, and mental health professionals.

Publication Manual of the American Psychological Association
If you engage in any type of academic writing and/or research, you will surely need to use the latest version of the APA Style and Publication Manual, which is currently in its 7th edition. It provides detailed guidelines for using APA style. This style is common in the behavioral and social sciences. It is also used in the professional fields of education, communications, and business.
